This peanut butter yogurt recipe started its life as a pregnancy craving, when almost no food was appealing except for, like, maybe some peanut butter? It became necessary to find ways of eating peanut butter that weren’t just eating it off a spoon, and by mixing it with Greek yogurt we get an intense peanut butter hit while transforming it into something lighter with a dreamy creamy texture. Bliss!

A number of years later, it’s stood the test of time! It can be made into a bowl, it can be potted to be eaten as a snack, it can be the base for a healthier dessert. It’s good for adults, toddlers, kids, anyone who loves the PB.

How to Make Peanut Butter Yogurt

This creamy, dreamy peanut butter yogurt is incredibly simple to make! All you need to do is mix up some Greek yogurt with honey and smooth peanut butter. Some notes:

  • The proportions I give in this recipe are what works for my own tastes and the brands I use. You will want to taste it as you go and adjust if you want to. Different peanut butters have different levels of sweetness, so you may need more or less honey. I do like to keep mine on the less sweet side, so you may want more honey even with the exact same peanut butter.
  • Feel free to use either Greek yogurt or plain natural yogurt. Greek yogurt is my preference due to it’s more neutral taste, I think plain natural yogurt may need a little more honey to sweeten. You can also use vanilla yogurt – you’d likely need a bit less honey, but you’ll have to judge that one for yourself since all vanilla yogurts are made differently.
  • A few drops of vanilla extract would make a great addition too, lending a warm sweet flavor without any additional sugar.
  • I LOVE Pip and Nut peanut butter for this. It’s a high oleic peanut butter and is very runny (almost pourable) which makes it a dream to mix into yogurt. Crunchy or smooth work equally well.
  • Feel free to try maple syrup instead of honey (if you’re making this for a baby under one year of age, this is essential since babies should never be given honey).

Making Peanut Butter Yogurt Bowls

Peanut butter yogurt bowls can be a substantial snack or breakfast. Spoon some peanut butter yogurt into a bowl and then add your toppings. I love this simple version with banana and chocolate chips.

Making Peanut Butter Yogurt Jars to go

For a to-go option, spoon everything into a little jar (it’s worth saving small jam jars or the glass jars that fancy yogurt comes in for these purposes). Once jarred, you can store these in the fridge for about 5 days (as long as the yogurt you use is not due to expire before then). Fair warning – cold peanut butter will harden up a little, so the yogurt will become extra thick.

For a Protein Packed Breakfast:

Peanut Butter Yogurt + Granola + Berries = Breakfast Bliss! You could also use the yogurt within an overnight oats recipe.

For a Healthier Dessert:

Peanut Butter Yogurt + Crushed Oreos + Peanuts + Chocolate Sauce. WINNING.

Peanut Butter Yogurt for Babies, Toddlers & Kids

This makes a great after school snack for kids, and with the addition of sprinkles can definitely pass for dessert or a treat!

❗️If you’re making this for a baby under 12 months, you will definitely need to use maple syrup instead of honey – babies under 12 months are at risk of botulism from honey so need to avoid it completely.

Ingredients

  • cup greek yogurt
  • cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • Toppings: Banana, chocolate chips, peanuts, sprinkles, oreos, berries, granola, whatever you like!

Instructions 

  • Mix the yogurt, honey and peanut butter together in a bowl until smooth.
  • Taste test and add additional honey if you wish.
  • Assemble your bowls or jars with the desired toppings.
