Looking for easy dinner ideas that you can shop for at Aldi? These are my top picks! All of these recipes have a short ingredient list which can be sourced from Aldi UK. Budget shopping doesn’t have to be boring when you can take advantage of some of the great products and prices that Aldi have to offer.
I love shopping at Aldi, and I know I am not the only one! These days we are all noticing food price inflation, and shopping at lower priced supermarkets can be part of the solution.
For me, Aldi is especially useful for their range of cheeses (especially the halloumi, mascarpone, and smoked cheddar which can be expensive elsewhere) and pasta (especially the tortellini and gnocchi). Their fruit and vegetables can also be incredibly affordable, and they stock some excellent baby plum tomatoes year round. They have a decent range of canned foods such as beans and lentils. So these are ingredients you’ll see on repeat in this collection.
The more limited range of whole grains (quinoa, barley etc) and spices (particularly whole spices) at Aldi is where a lot of my recipes didn’t pass the test. They might be around at some Aldi stores but they are not on the website and they are things I’ve personally struggled to find there. On that note, a few recipes here do call for fennel seeds (I really just put those seeds in everything) but they are fine to exclude if you need to. I did not include recipes that absolutely needed them.
Finally, it’s important to note that this is specific to Aldi UK. Aldi US will have a completely different range, and so this list may not apply. I have checked ingredients against the UK website to ensure they are all typically stocked by Aldi. Some smaller stores may not have the full range. I have checked some recipes against Aldi US’s website and many do hold up, but when it comes to the European cheeses like halloumi or smoked / truffle cheddar, you may or may not find them.
I intend to keep this page up to date when I post new Aldi friendly recipes so be sure to bookmark it if it’s something you’re interested in!
